Amplidata provides Optimized Object Storage systems for Big Data. Amplidata solutions enable customers to deploy the world’s largest storage infrastructures that meet the highest data durability and availability requirements at the lowest possible cost.

Amplidata supports customers in a wide variety of industries including leading Service Providers and Telcos, Online Application Providers, Media & Entertainment Studios, Scientific / Bioinformatics research and Government institutions. The AmpliStor system delivers such high levels of data durability (ten 9′s, fifteen 9′s – or beyond) that it can actually consolidate multiple existing tiers of storage. Typically customers deploy these multiple tiers to provide assurance for data durability: tier 1 (disk) + tier 2 (disk), or tier 2 (disk) + tier 3 (tape), or multiple copies on tape. With AmpliStor, a single instance of data provides much higher durability – thereby saving you tremendously on both capital and operational costs. AmpliStor can even come close to the TCO of two copies on tape, while providing the convenience, management ease, accessibility of disk, along with scalable, multi-gigabyte throughput.

Amplidata responds to the market’s need by solving the problems traditional technologies face and guarantees ultimate availability on all storage tiers. Leveraging Amplidata BitSpread rateless erasure coding technology, Amplidata enables customers to build highly available storage infrastructures at significantly reduced cost. The company is addressing some of the inherent weaknesses of high capacity disk systems, such as performance, bit error rates, mean time between failures and RAID rebuild times which have not improved sufficiently to keep up with the explosion of digital storage needs.

Amplidata was founded in 2008 and is lead by a team of storage experts. Amplidata’s CEO Mike Wall was previously CEO of Atempo, and GM of the Intel Storage Division, and the company was founded by Wim De Wispelaere (CEO), Wouter Van Eetvelde (COO), and Kristof De Spiegeleer, veterans from Veritas/Symantec where they spearheaded the development of the NetBackup Puredisk product line, which they originally created at Data Center Technologies (DCT), a pioneer in deduplication technologies. The team has also created successful technology companies in the Service Provider and Cloud space, with successful exits to major corporations such as Sun Microsystems, Terremark and Symantec.

Amplidata is headquartered in Milpitas, California with European headquarters near Gent, Belgium, as well as operations in Taipei, Taiwan.
